Community Knowledge Fund

We’re delighted to announce that we have been awarded a Community Knowledge Fund grant from UKRI and will be working with The Young Foundation to develop our skills in community led research.

Our project is focused around community research into micro-power generation. Working from our cultural and community hub The Vale, we will explore how the natural resources around us can help make a difference to our energy usage and thus carbon emissions.

Over 6 months we will team up with our local community to research, design and install a removable micro-hydroelectric generator, harnessing clean energy from a culvert which runs through our land.  Residents will develop new skills and connections, as well as knowledge around energy consumption and generation.  We can all take this learning back into our communities, leading to further projects and changes in behaviours.
